Our Story

Since today is Valentine's Day and marks one year since we re-met, we thought we'd tell you how it all happened.

Exactly one year ago today, I was sitting all by myself in the Wilk not wanting to talk to anyone really and Paul came up to me with our friend Adam and just sat down.  He started talking to me and all I could think was he is really awkward.  He was so awkward that I thought he must be doing it on purpose so I asked him if he was being awkward on purpose to which he said, "yeah..."  Later I learned he wasn't doing it on purpose and was just nervous because I'm so pretty.

Later on, after a couple meetings in the Wilk like this, we all decided to go to Logan to see one of my best friends in a play.  Logan is long way from Provo.  It takes about 2 hours one way.  Adam fell asleep in the back seat and Paul and I talked the whole way there and the whole way back.  And we didn't get bored of each other.  It was really great.

The next week, Paul asked me on a date.  It took him 20 minutes to ask me out.  We went to In-N-Out and then watched Inception with a couple of friends.  Inception is a long movie.  It is especially long when you're waiting for someone to hold your hand.  But eventually he did and it was all worth the wait.  That night before he dropped me off, we talked about what was going on between us and decided we should probably give dating a shot.

We had a blast dating.  See look how happy we were.

Then we decided that things were going so great that we should probably get married.  So one night Paul takes me up into the mountains somewhere and parks the car.  We walk around and Paul is like "look at this pretty view."  And then we walk around some more and he's like "oh look, a path! Let's walk on it!"  So we walk along this path and as we're walking I see an envelope with my name on it.  I open it up and it says, "sometimes you get everything you want."  And that's when I knew something was happening.  As we kept walking, I found gifts that included my favorite movie, a book, and concert tickets to Pentatonix.  Then we reach the top of this hill that looks out over Provo and I see a blanket with a ringbox on it.  I start freaking out a little inside.  And then Paul says, "open it up."  And I was like, "no way, that's your job" but I opened it up and it was empty.  And then there was a little pause where apparently Paul was positioning me so that his brother in the bushes could take a better picture of the moment but I thought he was just being mean.  If he had built all this up for an empty ringbox, I was not going to be happy.  But it was all okay, he got down on one knee and pulled the ring out of his pocket where it had been all along and asked me to marry him.  I said yes.

We were so happy!  After an engagement that included Paul going to London for a study abroad, we got married.  It was so perfect!  It is so great to be married to my best friend! We are so happy.

Happy Valentine's Day!  And for those that are bitterly reading this and thinking that they are alone in the world, enjoy a favorite of mine.

It takes a while to get there but just hang in there.  It gets better.

And for those of you in love, here's a favorite of ours.

And that's how we began the journey to happily ever after.   You could try out our method sometime.  It could work for you too!

Ohllo!

We decided that we should probably start a blog to keep y'all updated on our lives.  So to just give you a rundown of what's been happening recently...

We found this stellar sweatshirt at Kohl's the other day.  Yes, I married Captain America.  Go ahead, be jealous.

It was my birthday! Yay! And Paul had my camera and took some lovely pictures like these:

And some not so lovely like this:

Also, he played hide and seek with my little sister for a good while.  This was my favorite hiding spot he found.

And I discovered my favorite commercial ever.

And now it's totes cray because we're bloggers too.
